Lake McClure July Flow Releases

Lake McClure July Flow Releases

July 8, 2020

Fluctuations in the Merced River’s flow vary throughout the year, depending on a host of factors – such as weather and snowmelt runoff. For the next couple of weeks, additional water will be flowing below Lake McClure as part of a multi-benefit water release to downstream users.

The amount of water being released from Lake McClure is minimal. MID currently has adequate supply to meet the needs of its growers this year and will also have a suitable amount of water stored for next year’s irrigation season.

The small releases will benefit Santa Clara Valley Water District, which provides agricultural, municipal and industrial service. It will also benefit several small agricultural irrigation districts located in the San Joaquin Valley.

MID will be compensated for the water released downstream.
